Introducing SPACGraveyard: Where $363 Billion Went to Die
Between 2020 and 2021, over 800 Special Purpose Acquisition Companies raised more than $250 billion from investors — promising a new era of democratized access to pre-IPO companies. Most of those promises were broken. SPACGraveyard.com is our forensic investigation of what happened to that money.
The Damage Report
What We Built
SPACGraveyard isn't a stock tracker or a trading tool. It's an investigative data platform — built to document the biggest wealth transfer from retail investors to Wall Street insiders in modern financial history.
Every SPAC that went public via SEC EDGAR. Every bankruptcy filing. Every celebrity-backed disaster. Every reverse stock split used to avoid delisting. We pulled it all together from SEC filings, EDGAR data, Yahoo Finance, and academic research.
Why This Story Matters
The SPAC bubble wasn't just a market event — it was a transfer of wealth from retail investors to Wall Street insiders, enabled by regulatory gaps and celebrity hype. Sponsors risked $25,000 and received 20% of companies worth hundreds of millions. Banks collected their 5.5% fees regardless of whether investors made or lost money. Celebrities lent their names and walked away before the crash.
The average post-merger SPAC trades at $3.85 — a 62% loss from the $10 IPO price. 85% of SPACs trade below their IPO price. The only consistent winners were the sponsors and the banks.
